Europe markets higher as investors shake off trade fears

Strong first quarter earnings reports helped markets in Europe shake off the pull of Tuesday’s sharp losses.

How did markets perform?

The Stoxx 600 SXXP, -0.41% dipped 0.2% to 382.2. It fell 1.4% Tuesday.

The U.K.’s FTSE 100 UKX, -0.31% was a rare index in the red on Wednesday, down 0.2% to 7,428.2. That added to Tuesday’s loss of 1.6%

The pound GBPUSD, -0.4742% sank 0.2% to $1.3044, on top of losing 0.3% Tuesday.

In Germany, the DAX DAX, -1.82% DAX, -0.01% increased to 12,169.7, a gain of 0.6% following Tuesday’s 1.6% loss.
