Stock market poised to edge lower in the wake of worst start to December since 1980

Stock benchmarks looked set to slump Monday after the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell into correction territory, and the three main benchmarks marked their worst start to December trading since 1980, amid fears of global growth and an aggressive Federal Reserve.

How did benchmarks trade?

Futures for the Dow YMZ8, -0.15% off 37 points, or 0.2%, at 24,095, those for the S&P 500 ESZ8, -0.12% were off 3.40 points, or 0.1%, at 2,599, while Nasdaq-100 futures NQZ8, -0.19% retreated 8.75 points to 6,613, a drop of 0.1%.
