Stocks mostly rise on hope for progress on China trade talks

Global stocks were mostly higher Monday as investors welcomed signs of progress in resolving the trade dispute between the U.S. and China. The Wall Street Journal reported the countries hope to have a resolution by November.

KEEPING SCORE: France’s CAC 40 edged up nearly 0.6 percent in early trading to 5,377.10. Germany’s DAX added 0.9 percent to 12,323.52, while Britain’s FTSE 100 climbed 0.6 percent to 7,604.67. U.S. shares were also set to drift higher with Dow futures adding 0.2 percent to 25,734. S&P 500 futures gained 0.2 percent to 2,858.70.
