World shares slip after rate jitters pull Wall Street lower

U.S. futures edged lower Friday ahead of the release of key U.S. consumer inflation data, while global shares mostly declined.

Futures for the Dow Jones industrials inched down less than 0.2% while futures for the S&P 500 are essentially flat.

In absence of a major upswing on Friday, major U.S. benchmarks are headed for their eighth week of losses in the past nine weeks.
