There’s been a surprising bit of good news for travelers lately: Security delays at U.S. airports may have peaked. And while that news should please travelers, we know that not all airports are equal when it comes to the pile-up at the end of the Transportation Security Administration line.
Looking at the 118 airports in the U.S. that welcomed at least 500,000 travelers in 2015, we set out to find the places that have seen the most security delays. At airports nationwide, there were an average of 3.3 delays per 100,000 passengers from 2006 to 2015. For context, TSA screened more than 708 million passengers in 2015 alone.
