Apple’s Tim Cook Says the iPhone Encryption Debate Should Shift to Congress

Apple CEO Tim Cook said on Monday that the government should deescalate its battle with the tech company over iPhone encryption and shift the debate over national security and privacy to Capitol Hill.

Cook sent an email to Apple AAPL 0.51% employees, and Apple published a lengthly Q&A that provided more information about the company’s ongoing dispute with the FBI over a court order that instructed Apple to weaken the security on the iPhone of Syed Farook, one of the shooters responsible for the rampage in San Bernardino, Calif. last year.
