Good data or not, UBS still expects a half-point rate cut

The U.S. may have added 224,000 nonfarm jobs in June, and core inflation may have climbed by the fastest amount in more than a year.

Economists at UBS still anticipate a half-point cut from the Fed at the upcoming Federal Open Market Committee meeting due to end July 31.

The FOMC, according to UBS economists led by Seth Carpenter, is “cherry picking” the negative.
