U.S. stock-index futures traded lower shortly before the opening bell Wednesday as investors avoided big bets ahead of the start of the Federal Reserve’s much-anticipated two-day meeting.
Market reaction to weaker-than-expected inflation numbers was muted. Lack of inflation growth has been cited as one of the reasons the Fed may delay raising interest rates at this meeting.
S&P 500 futures ESZ5, -0.01% edged down by 3 points, or 0.1%, to 1,977.25, while Dow Jones Industrial Average futures YMZ5, +0.01% declined 15 points, or 0.1%, to 16,606. Nasdaq-100 futures NQZ5, -0.02% were off by 3 points, or 0.1%, at 4,357.
