US manufacturing surges after the election

The Markit flash reading of the US manufacturing sector came in stronger than expected for the month of November at 53.9.

The Markit purchasing managers index (PMI) was projected to come in at 53.4 by economists, the same number as October.

Part of the reason according to Chris Williamson, the chief business economist at Markit, was the end of the US presidential election.
