Oil Stumbles As Rally-Emboldened OPEC Mulls Even Higher Output

Oil had its best month in three for September, gaining almost 10%, with even producers in OPEC+ presumably emboldened enough to consider a higher output in coming months than they initially planned.

New York-traded West Texas Intermediate, the benchmark for U.S. oil, settled September’s last trading day at $75.03 per barrel, up 20 cents on the day or 0.3%. For the month itself, WTI gained 9.5%, its most since June. For the third quarter, it rose 2%.
